It was late year 2000 in Haukipudas, Finland, when three fellows - Teemu Kuusento, Miikka Hanhela and Samu Hernberg - decided to base a rock band called Aias. Teemu decided to sing until we had found a real singer, and his brother Pietu Kuusento was asked to play drums. So we had become a band.
After first gigs and recording sessions we started to have an idea what we really had gotten ourselves into. Teemu decided to remain as a singer, and became passionate about composing songs. Our music style started to change into something more heavy - inspired by Stratovarius, Nightwish and Sonata Arctica.
We soon realized that actually we didn't fit together as well as a band as we did as friends. So, next couple of years band's name and line up changed frequently. In 2004 Joni Säkkinen joined the band, and persuaded his friend - Jussi Sauvola - to do the same thing. That time band also changed its name from Child Of The Night to Silent Threnody, and in 2006 when Tuukka Kettunen and Matias Ahola joined the band, Teemu was the only original member left. Heikki Väyrynen joined the band in 2007 to replace our bassist Tuukka for a year, and remained in the band after that as a lead guitar player.
Today we still have that nice garage in Haukipudas to rehearse together weekly, even though band has now members from Kemi and Oulu also. We are constantly looking for events to participate and reasons to celebrate. We have recently released our fourth demo, Dead Ends.
