It was late year 2000 in Haukipudas, Finland, when three fellows - Teemu Kuusento, Miikka Hanhela and Samu Hernberg - decided to base a rock band called Aias. Teemu decided to sing until we had found a real singer, and his brother Pietu Kuusento was asked to play drums. So we had become a band.
In the early years band's name and line up changed frequently. In 2004 Sebastian Säkkinen joined the band, and persuaded his friend - Jussi Sauvola - to do the same thing. That time band also took the name Silent Threnody. In 2006 Tuukka Kettunen and Matias Ahola joined the band, and the line-up we have today was formed. However, the line-up has not been the same all the time. Other people have joined the band for short periods of time, and in 2012 Teemu wanted to give the role of lead singer to Sebastian, and focus on playing the guitar and composing songs.
Today we still have that nice garage in Haukipudas to rehearse together regularly. However, home town of Silent Threnody today is Oulu/Kemi. We are constantly looking for events to participate and reasons to celebrate. Our fourth demo - Dead Ends - was titled as Demo of the Month in Finnish Soundi-magazine.
